The mission of the India School of Dance, Music & Theatre Inc. is the preservation and promotion of the visual, literary and performing arts of India for all Manitobans. This is achieved by teaching, showcasing and sharing our resources with the community
The idea of an Institute to teach students and showcase artists began in the seventies with Folklorama, and a core group of local artists and patrons. Established in 1980, the India School was incorporated in 1983, with a clear mandate to promote excellence in the arts in Manitoba. From small beginnings of only 25 students, the India School now accommodates well over 150 students and teachers. Instruction is provided in Classsical and Contemporary Music, Classical Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Folk and Tribal, and Bollywood.
