Born into a musically gifted family, it was natural for Jaya to be immersed into music and dance. At the early age of four, Jaya displayed all the attributes of a born artist and chose Kathak dance as her outlet to perform. With much dedication and hard work, Jaya has developed into an accomplished dancer and teacher over the past twenty years at the India School of Dance, Music, and Theatre. She has competed in Manitoba Dance Competitions winning Gold and Gold Honours medals and performed at various community events over the years. National and international performances include trips to Toronto, Thompson, and the United States. She was also apart of the first Kathak group in Manitoba to graduate with an Aradhana (2009). Although Jaya does not perform as much as before, her talent is showcased through her students' performances. Jaya is a loving, caring, and compassionate young woman who plans to continue learning and gaining knowledge in the art form of Kathak and pursue her future goals in the Aviation Industry.
