Pooja Kulkarni

Pooja pursued her passion towards classical dance and began Kathak training at age of 12 under the guidance of Guru Smt Shilpa Kantak. Pooja has trained in both Jaipur and Lucknow gharana. Additionally, she attended several workshops conducted by the maestro Pt. Birju Maharajji. She also undertook advanced training under internationally renowned Kathak and Odissi dancer Saveeta Sharma, Founder and principal teacher at Upasana school of dance, Toronto, and had the opportunity to perform for Upasana’s Nritya Sunderam 2009. Pooja is currently Pursuing Her Masters in Kathak under the guidance of Guru Smt Sandhya Desai. She is the founder of Mudra School of Dance, Brampton On, and is a registered teacher with the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. With a total 20 years of kathak experience, Pooja has performed at various events in Toronto including MBM Toronto’s Sahitya Samelan 2011, Kathak Mohatsav 2015, Angikam 2015, and Zakha 2016. She recently performed for "Ashirwad", celebrating Pandit Birju Maharajji's 80th birthday, and the Toronto International Dance Festival 2019. Pooja’s dedication and hard work helped her to successfully complete her Nritya Visharad in 2008, along with a Bachelor's degree in Management, from the University of Mumbai.
