Revanti joined India School of Dance, Music & Theatre in 2022 as an instructor in traditional classical Kathak dance and Bollywood. She started dancing at the age of six under the guidance of Padma Shri Guru Rani Karnaa, who was also the disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj at 'Sangeet Natak Academy' (Delhi, India) trained in both Jaipur and Lucknow Kathak gharanas. Revanti received 12 years of training under her guidance and has passionately pursued dance ever since. Over time, she also developed an interest in Bollywood and Indo-Bolly fusion forms.
Born and brought up in Kolkata (Eastern part of India), Revanti comes from a culturally enriched Bengali family. Her great grandmother was one of the disciples of Rabindranath Tagore at Shantiniketan, and her mother was a part of 'Ananda Shankar group of Performing Arts,' an Indian contemporary dance troupe that performed all over the world. After completing an undergraduate engineering degree in Biotechnology, she arrived in Winnipeg in March 2021 as an international student. Currently, Revanti is pursuing an MSc in Biosciences with a focus on cancer research.
Excited to learn about the thriving Indian community at the India School of Dance (Winnipeg, Canada), Revanti feels privileged to have the opportunity to teach dance to the next generation and give back to the community.
